Sacha Baron Cohen Is A Fiery Mephisto In MCU Fan Art

New Marvel Cinematic Universe fan art sees Sacha Baron Cohen step into the role of Mephisto for the upcoming Ironheart series. The sinister character of Mephisto is something of a trickster, using his demonic form to manipulate humans’ belief in Satan, as he rules over a pocket dimension that he refers to as “Hell”/”Hades” though it is neither of those things. Since the Disney+ series Wandavision aired, MCU fans have been waiting for the comics villain to appear in the MCU. However, the series ended without an appearance from the demon despite fan theories, and the franchise has since teased the character’s appearance with lines in Thor: Love and Thunder and She-Hulk: Attorney At Law.

An upcoming project that could see Mephisto finally pop up is Agatha: Coven of Chaos due to the devil’s importance in Agatha’s comics story. However, reports earlier this month indicated that Cohen could be in talks to play Mephisto in the Ironheart series. Ironheart recently wrapped filming, and is slated for a fall 2023 release. Though Marvel has yet to comment on the rumors of Cohen’s casting, a new fan art allows audiences to picture the actor in the villainous rule.

Digital creator 83 Pixel Studios posted the art depicting Cohen as Mephisto via Instagram. The fiery photo sees Cohen, who often stars in comedic roles and is best known for portraying Borat, in a dark red velvety cloak. His skin also takes on a red hue, with sharpened facial features, yellow eyes, and black hair rounding out all of Mephisto’s classic features. … also includes an MCU Ironheart character poster with Cohen as Mephisto. See the post above.

Though Cohen’s involvement with the MCU is not confirmed, nor is Mephisto’s presence in Ironheart, the actor certain looks the part in this post. If Mephisto were to appear in Ironheart, he would likely serve as a replacement for the demon Dormammu, who gives Parker Robbins/the Hood (Anthony Ramos) his powers in the comics. The Hood is confirmed in Ironheart, which has sparked rumors of Daredevil (Charlie Cox) possibly appearing in the upcoming series as well. If Mephisto were to take Dormammu’s place in Ironheart, he could possess Parker or possibly make a deal with him in exchange for his soul.

Ironheart, which will star Dominique Thorne as Riri Williams, may be a surprising place to introduce the supernatural villain given the teen hero’s affinity for tech, but that juxtaposition could offer an interesting twist on her story. In addition, the timing of that series, which will air just before Agatha: Coven of Chaos, supports the possibility that the devil could appear in Ironheart, setting up his future story in the MCU. Cohen, known for portraying larger-than-life characters, would likely bring a delightful level of theatricality to the villain if he does step into the role. Whether or not Cohen is truly in talks to play Mephisto, the demon could appear in a tease as early as Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, given the presence of Ironheart protagonist Riri in that film.
