DWTS: Shangela Teases Taylor Swift Halloween Night Performance

Shangela is in the Halloween spirit as she teases her upcoming Dancing With The Stars performance to Taylor Swift’s hit “Look What You Made Me Do.” Shangela and her partner Gleb Savchenko will be doing a Jazz routine for the horror-themed night, as well as a freestyle team dance. Shangela and Gleb are on Team Wicked with Vinny Guadagnino and Koko Iwasaki, Jordin Sparks and Brandon Armstrong, Heidi D’Amelio and Artem Chigvintsev, and Gabby Windey and Alan Bersten. Gabby is partnered with Val Chmerkovskiy for the season, but the dancer is out with Covid this week. The other contestants are on Team Scream.

Shangela is so excited about her Halloween DWTS performance that she had to share some details with her fans. Shangela posted an Instagram live to her profile where she gave fans the inside scoop of her performance. “I’m so excited because the song I chose, you know “Look What You Made Me Do” by Taylor Swift?” Shangela asked her followers. Shangela explained that she and Gleb will dance their Jazz routine to a scary version of Taylor’s 2017 single. Shangela, who received all 9s with her Michael Bublé performance last week, hopes that this week her scary Jazz dance will earn her all 10s. The DWTS contestant then informed fans she will have no chicken in her dress like last week and encouraged them to vote for her.

Taylor recently became the first artist in history to dominate the top ten of the Billboard 100 charts, solidifying her fans’ claims that she’s an icon in the music industry. Due to her popularity, DWTS contestants have danced to her music several times. During DWTS season 28, Hannah Brown and Alan danced to her 2019 single “Lover,” and the pop superstar shared the performance on social media, calling it “pretty and twirly.” Shangela has been improving as a dancer each week and hopefully will earn the 10s she wants from the DWTS judges this week. All the contestants have been working hard rehearsing their two dance routines for the fun night.

While Shangela did not appear in Taylor’s 2019 music video for “You Need To Calm Down,” RuPaul and several other RuPaul’s Drag Race stars did, meaning the star is certainly familiar with the DWTS contestant. It’s likely Taylor will see Shangela’s performance and, hopefully, while celebrating the success of her recent album Midnights, will also celebrate Shangela’s dance. If she shares the performance on social media while voting is still open, it may even encourage her devoted swifties to vote for Shangela and Gleb. Taylor isn’t too hard to impress, as she’s typically just excited to see people enjoying her music, so Shangela shouldn’t worry too much about what Taylor will think.

As a seasoned performer, Shangela is bound to nail her DWTS performance even if the judges have some feedback about her technique. She’s in her element when she gets to put on a show, which she did brilliantly during Prom Night and Michael Bublé night. Hopefully, she can win judges and host Tyra Banks over again, even without gifting them chicken from her dress. Her excitement for the night and her Taylor-inspired dance will likely shine through during her performance, and hopefully, it will be enough to earn her the 10s she desires.
