10 injured in Florida mass shooting: Police

Lakeland, Florida – A mass shooting in a Florida city left 10 people injured, according to the Lakeland Police Department announce on Monday.

Police said two victims sustained serious injuries and eight were not life-threatening.

“One is having surgery and the other is either having surgery or is on the way to surgery,” Lakeland Police Chief Sam Taylor said at a news conference Monday.

Police responded to calls for a shooting at a location near Iowa Avenue North and Bloom Street at 3:43 p.m.

Taylor stated that all the victims were adult men between the ages of 20 and 35.

Lakeland police have not identified any suspects, but believe four of the alleged shooters fired shots on both sides of the street from their vehicle, which Taylor described as a four-door Nissan.

Police believe the shooting was not random and that the victims were targeted.

“We don’t think there’s any reason for the public to be concerned right now,” Taylor said. “We think the people in the car shot whoever they wanted to shoot and they shot him.”

Authorities added that they found marijuana at the scene, hinting that marijuana was being sold at the time of the accident, but there is no information on whether or not the suspected marijuana sale and the shooting were connected.
