Boil water notice: Order issued to Brazosport Water Authority customers after pipes were disconnected Monday, Brazoria officials say

Brazil, Texas (KTRK) – Brazoria officials said a boiling water notice was issued to customers using the Brazosport Water Authority due to a pipe disconnect Monday night.

The separation caused low distribution water pressures, prompting the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality to require the water authority to notify all customers to boil their water prior to consumption.

Because children, the elderly, and people with weakened immune systems are particularly vulnerable to harmful bacteria, county officials shared the following:

• Boil water and cool it before use

• The water must be brought to a strong boil, and then boiled for three minutes

• Do not use refrigerated water lines in refrigerators

• Do not use ice from an automatic ice maker

• If you don’t want to boil the water, you can buy bottled water or get your water from another convenient source

The notice went into effect Monday at approximately 6:30 p.m. app store or google apps. An update is expected Wednesday morning, according to city officials.

The City of Brazoria said the Brazosport Water Authority has been pressing its distribution system since 10:15 p.m. Monday and is currently applying good pressure. Facebook share.

When the boiling water order is lifted, officials said the public water system will issue a notice stating that it has been cancelled.

Authorities said most customers have turned to backup secondary water sources.

City officials said the warning did not mean all cities would be affected.
