Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 will appear for the first time with the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S23 phones

Towards the end of last year, Corning announced Gorilla Glass Victus 2, giving it an edge over its original Victus by offering the same scratch resistance while offering improved drop resistance on hard surfaces like concrete. While we haven’t yet seen it on smartphones, it looks like Gorilla Glass Victus 2 will finally see the light of day, arriving in the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S23 series of smartphones.

David Velasquez, Vice President and General Manager, Gorilla Glass, stated:

Samsung will be the first smartphone manufacturer to use Corning’s latest products, which offer better drop protection on hard surfaces. Plus, the company has put some emphasis on its own sustainability efforts, using 22 percent pre-consumer recycled content for its latest products, which justifies an environmental claim validated by Underwriters Laboratories. Samsung has also been involved in pushing sustainability around the Galaxy S23 series of phones, along with a focus on performance and innovation.

Next week, Samsung will finally launch its latest smartphone, and it could also reveal new Galaxy Book laptops as well during the Galaxy Unpacked event. Ahead of the February 1 event, the company launched its reservations page, allowing users to sign up in order to receive up to $100 credit towards a future purchase.
