It’s not uncommon to worry about battery life when you purchase a new business laptop such as the ThinkPad X1 Yoga Gen 8. For frontline workers in the field who are always on the go, or office workers who may be using their laptop and are always participating in meetings, you might It is not always an outlet near them. So how is the battery life on Lenovo’s latest ThinkPad? The short answer to this question is that we don’t know much about it because Lenovo hasn’t yet quoted battery life numbers.
However, based on last year’s model, and the fact that the battery size hasn’t changed, we have an estimated guess as to what you might expect from this new ThinkPad laptop. The good news is that it should be fit enough to get through most of the workday without recharging.
Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Yoga Gen 8 battery life
Under the hood of the ThinkPad X1 Yoga Gen 8 is a 57Wh battery. This is unchanged from the previous ThinkPad X1 Yoga Gen 7 model, as we reviewed in 2022. We got around six hours and 14 minutes of battery during our review period for the older model. Based on this, it is safe to assume that the estimated battery life of the newer ThinkPad X1 Yoga Gen 8 should be the same.
Of course, the results you get will depend on how you ultimately use your ThinkPad when it’s released in April. We primarily used the ThinkPad X1 Yoga Gen 7 as a regular laptop for web browsing, social media, and everyday work with screen brightness at a comfortable level. Using the device with the screen at high brightness, or for CPU-intensive tasks like running virtual machines, editing videos, or playing games may lower this number significantly. But if you use the ThinkPad for work like we do, battery life should be great.
Another factor that allows us to make this claim is also the new 13th generation Intel CPUs under the hood of the X1 Yoga Gen 8. These CPUs don’t make any significant changes in overall power consumption or performance. According to Intel, we expect to see only a 10% performance increase. Hopefully, it won’t affect battery life too much.
We look forward to testing and reviewing the ThinkPad X1 Yoga Gen 8 in our daily workflow once it’s released later this year in April. Until then, it’s safe to assume that battery life may not change much between generations of devices. We’ll do our best to update this guide with appropriate battery life figures once we’ve completed our review.
