Kate Chastain revealed that there were plans for a Bravo spinoff involving her and The Traitors costar Brandi Glanville before she became pregnant. Brandi and Kate starred in the first season of Peacock’s new reality competition TV show, The Traitors. Brandi is famous for starring on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, which she joined as a friend in season 2, before becoming a full-time cast member in season 3. She stayed on the show until her exit ahead of RHOBH season 6. Meanwhile, Kate starred in Below Deck from season 2 until her exit in February 2020. She is best remembered as the no-nonsense chief stew with a wicked sense of humor.
Despite being Bravolebrities, The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills‘ Brandi Glanville and Kate have never starred on the same show until co-starring on The Traitors. The duo enjoyed working together on the show and bonded while filming. Their chemistry was so strong that network executives thought about a spinoff involving them. While speaking on the Virtual Reali-Tea podcast, Kate said, “I would be lying if I said some [NBCUniversal] executives didn’t already throw that [a spinoff] across the table. It was a thing, but then I had to go get pregnant.” Kate announced her pregnancy in December 2022, and revealed she would be due in May 2023. Although Kate’s pregnancy put plans for a spinoff on hold, her friendship with Brandi continues to blossom. She disclosed that her friendship with Brandi was her greatest gift from doing The Traitors.
The former Below Deck star also said it is embarrassing that she wasn’t always a Brandi fan, despite watching her over the years. However, Kate said, “But I feel like … this is her moment. She’s becoming the queen of Peacock and I love to see it.” Kate also criticized the villain label placed on Brandi during RHOBH‘s early days, wondering why the hashtag #JusticeForBrandi wasn’t more popular. She shed more light on the spinoff in which she and Brandi would have appeared, noting it is similar to Luann de Lesseps and Sonja Morgan’s Luann and Sonja: Welcome to Crappie Lake. Although there is uncertainty about the spinoff, Kate said she would be shocked if there wasn’t a “Brandi and Kate” reunion with a camera involved at a later stage.
Kate’s revelation about her friendship with Brandi is pleasing to the ears. Through its multiple reality television shows, Bravo has helped build many incredible friendships among the women who star in them. It seems Kate and Brandi are set to add to the number of strong friendships that started, thanks to the network. Hopefully, the pair’s bond grows stronger, leading to business partnerships and possible reality TV series in the future.
Meanwhile, following Kate’s revelation about the spinoff that fell through because of her pregnancy, one can’t help but wonder if it would eventually see the light of day. Kate and Brandi’s friendship must have been so infectious for network executives to consider a spinoff involving them. Hence, if they remain great friends, there is a high chance the spinoff will be back in the works later. For now, fans must make due with watching Kate and Brandi on The Traitors, while hoping to see more of them together in later years.
