Arsenal are allegedly set to loan Marquinhos out before the transfer deadline on Tuesday, with the Brazilian winger unlikely to see much action for the Gunners in the second half of the season.
According to the Express, the 19-year-old winger is a candidate to leave north London on a temporary transfer this week after Arsenal’s elimination from the FA Cup, with Marquinhos’ only opportunities for first-team football coming in the Premier League and the UEFA Europa League.
With Arsenal looking to win both competitions, it is expected that Marquinhos will not play too many minutes between now and the end of the season, and as a result, the Gunners are now exploring the option of loaning out the attacker before deadline day.
Signed in the summer from Sao Paulo, Marquinhos has impressed in patches this season for Arsenal after scoring in his debut in the Europa League against FC Zurich. However, with the Gunners now top of the Premier League and one of the favourites to win a European trophy, loaning out the winger makes plenty of sense.
Lauded as ‘excellent’ by Bukayo Saka, Marquinhos going out on loan could be a smart move from Arsenal given how little senior football the winger will realistically play between now and the end of the season, with interest likely high in the Brazilian youngster.
Indeed, whilst there is not much time to find the perfect loan club for Marquinhos, there is still a good chance that Arsenal will be able to find the right team to send the winger off to, with the north London side having some good success stories this season from the likes of Folarin Balogun and Charlie Patino.
Marquinhos has impressed in his first year in England with Arsenal, yet many supporters and pundits would agree that the winger is in need of regular minutes out on loan, which is why the attacker leaving this week ticks a lot of boxes.
At 19, Marquinhos is at a stage in his career when he needs to be playing week-in week-out for a top club either in England or abroad in the Europe, and with interest likely high in the forward, Arsenal could hash out a deal to send the teenager out from north London sooner than expected.
