The bad news for new fans is that a number of spin-off stories – such as the fan-favorite “Molly & Poo” strangers who played as an extended defender on Xena: Warrior Princess – It will not be included in bundled releases anymore. Hey guys, if you missed the latest YouTube Studio Sunday ep, you probably don’t know that we’ve signed up with Diamond Book Distributors to put Strangers In Paradise on the book market. The current Omnibus and Pocket Editions will no longer be suitable for the book market, so we’re creating… a new format! The SiP will be divided into four roughly equal volumes so that new readers will get four major books without a huge price tag. To do this, side stories and satirical short stories will be excluded… only the main SiP story will be present, uninterrupted by spin-offs like the Molly & Poo and Xena parodies. That should reduce the story from 2,100 pages to about 1,900 something. SiP is too big! Think of it this way, it ran for 13 TV seasons. yes. Pack *that* Terry! lol
So here’s the inside news. This means that existing Omnibus and Pocket Editions will not be reprinted. They were doomed to be out of print. forever. Reprinting is prohibited. If you want Omnibus buy it soon. If you’re missing the Pocket Edition in your collection, buy it soon. We have all of that at the moment, Rubin says, but our goal right now is to deplete the stock. We’ll never reprint the omnibus… not even if it’s going to stop the next meteor. No, we said no and we meant it. Just like we’re not reprinting these hardcover pages, you can peek at them in the photo. Find another way to stop the meteor. In the meantime, if you have these books, thank you! And hold on to them – someday it will be very difficult to find them!
When the collector’s hardcover had previously sold out, secondary market prices for a copy exploded, racking up several hundred dollars on eBay in that time. Prices have remained fairly steady since they resurfaced, but expect them to pick up quickly.
Pocket books are an interesting case. While they don’t have the same high price point and impressive presentation as the all-in-one set, manga-sized sets are an easy and popular way to carry around large portions of strangers in paradise Without the weight and bulk of a hardcover set. The format is weird, but it’s very popular with Moore’s fans and a good way to hand the story over to others, so that those start to appreciate it on eBay, too.
