Teen Wolf star Tyler Posey says he would love to explore Scott McCall’s adult life even more in a future spinoff. Posey starred on all 100 episodes of MTV’s Teen Wolf series, which was adapted from the 1985 Michael J. Fox film of the same name and ran from 2011 through 2017. He played Scott McCall, a young man who was bitten by a werewolf and attempted to manage his newfound lycanthropy while also balancing his life in high school and battling the evil forces that descended upon the town of Beacon Hills. He also reprised the role in Paramount+’s Teen Wolf: The Movie, which just premiered on January 26.
TVLine had the opportunity to sit down with some of the folks behind Teen Wolf: The Movie and break down the future of the franchise. While there is not currently an official plan for a continuation of Teen Wolf after the film, it seems more or less inevitable that one will come if it continues to draw in new viewers for Paramount+. If there is one, Posey says he’d like to be involved, as the film only shows “maybe two days in the world of Teen Wolf” and he wants more of an opportunity to explore McCall’s adult life. After Teen Wolf‘s final season, the core cast went their separate ways and found themselves in very different places. For instance, Posey’s co-star Tyler Hoechlin is now the lead of a CW superhero series, Superman & Lois, which is preparing to premiere season 3, while Dylan O’Brien went on to take the lead in the Maze Runner film franchise. However, Posey himself, despite also appearing in projects including MTV’s Scream: The Series, Starz’s Now Apocalypse, and the Lucy Hale horror flick Truth or Dare?, has largely been working as a voice actor for various animated projects.
Posey can be heard on episodes of Sherwood, Marvel Rising: Initiation, and Disney’s Elena of Avalor. However, his most prominent voice role has been his star turn on 52 episodes of Netflix’s Fast & Furious Spy Racers. The animated series, which is a spinoff of the massive Fast & Furious film franchise, follows Posey’s character Tony Toretto, a cousin of Vin Diesel’s Dom Toretto, who is recruited by a shadowy government agency to become a secret agent.
Assuming the film is successful enough for producers to greenlight more Teen Wolf, Posey may just get his wish. Teen Wolf: The Movie provides an obvious entry point into a new series thanks to the character Eli Hale, played by Vince Mattis. Eli, who is the son of Hoechlin’s character Derek Hale, is entering a particularly turbulent period in his life after officially joining Scott’s pack, so he could become the central teen of the title while finding a mentor figure in Scott.
