This is the best cheap tablet you can buy. With an unparalleled combination of power, battery life, and price, this ninth-generation iPad is the perfect all-around tablet for those on a budget, and it’s even better now that it’s dropped to this price.
In our review of the 2021 iPad, we liked just about everything about this tablet. The A13 Bionic chip delivers excellent performance for everyday tasks, and content looks great on the iPad’s bright screen. You’ll be able to use it for a long time before the battery runs out, too—we got nearly 12 hours out of this slate in our Tom’s Guide battery test.
We have two major complaints about this device. The large bezels on this tablet look dated compared to other tablets, namely the iPad Air and iPad 2022. You also can’t use it with the Magic Keyboard or the 2nd generation Apple Pencil, and it’s stuck with the Smart Keyboard and 1st generation. Apple gel pen. For many users, these issues won’t be a deal breaker, and we still think the 2021 iPad is a great device.
