The opening film of Demon Purge and the cast have been revealed

Japanese developer Inti Creates revealed the opening film And Two new cast members for the upcoming action platformer Grim Guardians: Demon Purge. Set to be released for multiple platforms on February 23 this year, Grim Guardians: Demon Purge is a direct spin off of the Gal*Gun shooter Double Peace, also developed by Inti Creates and first released in 2015.

Starring Maya and Shinobu Kamizono, the two protagonists of Double Peace, Grim Guardians: Demon Purge takes place in the Kamizono Sisters High School, which has now been turned into a castle of terror. To save the students and seal the curse, the Kamizono Sisters must enter the castle, wind their way through its haunted halls, and purify its demons, as per the title.

In the opening movie released over the weekend, fans can peek into the game’s mystical setting, cast of characters, and its villains, who range from creatures crawling on all fours to a sinister demon with sinister horns atop its head. The opening movie also showcased the physical and limited edition versions of the game, which are set to ship on March 23, a month after the game’s digital launch.

The Limited Collector’s Edition of Grim Guardians: Demon Purge will contain an artbook, soundtrack, and acrylic keychain featuring key art, plus a physical copy of the game for either Nintendo Switch or PlayStation 5, with everything packed in an exclusive art box. A clear file featuring character art will be available as a pre-order bonus for all physical versions of the game.

During this week’s Grim Guardians livestream show, Inti Creates also introduced original characters Rion Harusame and Saki Takeda, among two kidnapped students hiding across the school-turned-castle. One, Rion, has a passion for acting, though he also has a history of being a delinquent. The other, Saki Takada, is an upbeat and optimistic person who is affectionately referred to as “Right-senpai” due to her tendency to end her sentences with “Right?”

According to the gameplay footage shown in the live broadcast, each of these characters are separately encountered by the Kamizono Sisters while they are exploring the castle. Their biggest role in the game’s story is currently unknown. Rion Harusame will be voiced by Japanese voice actress Korea Fuji, with Momo Higuchi lending her voice acting talent to Saki Takeda. The characters’ English voice actors have not been disclosed.
