Several Titans and Arrowverse heroes form the live-action version of Young Justice in a new piece of art. One of the beloved teams in the DC Universe is Young Justice which gained more popularity thanks to the animated series that began on Cartoon Network. While Young Justice was canceled after only two seasons, it was finally revived for DC Universe for season 3 before moving to HBO Max ahead of season 4. Young Justice focused on several sidekicks finally stepping out of their respective heroes’ shadows to become more than just partners and shine as their own team.
Over the years, multiple members have made their way into the world of live-action. On the Arrowverse shows, Wally West/Kid Flash, Miss Martian, Roy Harper/Arsenal, and many more have starred in The CW dramas. Titans have also been a platform for various Young Justice members, including Dick Grayson, both as Robin and Nightwing, along with Aqualad and Superboy
Art of Time Travel, a popular digital artist, recently released a new poster where he brought Titans and Arrowverse heroes together as the Young Justice team. This iteration of the team consists of Robin, Superboy, Arsenal, Kid Flash, Miss Martian, and Aqualad. Their respective mentors, Superman, Batman, The Flash, Martian Manhunter, Green Arrow, and Aquaman, also get spotlighted with the Arrowverse actors. For Aquaman, Art of Time Travel revived the idea of Justin Hartley as Arthur Curry, as the Smallville alum did star in the Aquaman pilot for The CW that never got picked up to series.
Even though several Young Justice members have appeared in Titans and various Arrowverse shows, a formation of the team has yet to happen in live-action. But Young Justice could finally be getting their due in live-action sooner or later. In November 2022, DC Studios was officially launched as part of Warner Bros. Discovery’s new strategy to elevate the comic book brand. James Gunn and Peter Safran were hired as the co-CEOS for DC Studios. Under their leadership, they are now in charge of television, movies, animation, and video games related to the DC Universe (formerly known as the DCEU.)
With the DCU essentially set to serve as a reboot of some kind, this opens the door for new opportunities involving Young Justice. Gunn is expected to make announcements about the DCU this month to give an idea of what their slate will look like in coming years. Depending on what heroes they are focusing on in the first batch of movies and TV shows, Young Justice could be something they aim for throughout the years. Similar to how the Marvel Cinematic Universe built up to The Avengers, the DCU may do the same for Young Justice as one of the teams in the franchise.
At the time of this story’s publishing, HBO Max and Warner Bros. TV have not committed to another season for Young Justice. The animated series finished airing season 4 back on June 9, 2022, as the season finale ended on a huge cliffhanger. While the studio and streaming service has yet to announce it formally, Young Justice is believed to have been cancelled. In mid-August 2022, reports emerged that HBO Max had only planned for one season of Young Justice after its move from DC Universe. But with Amazon and Warner Bros. TV signing a new deal for DC animated projects, perhaps Young Justice will receive some type of revival on Prime Video if that is something that is within their interest.
