BREAKING: Mason Mount Quits #Chelsea?—Chelsea star Mason Mount is increasingly likely to leave the club this summer after talks between his representatives and the Blues broke down over a new contract.
The England international has 18 months to run on his deal at Stamford Bridge and he’s made it clear that his preference is to remain at the club.
The academy graduate earns around £80,000-a-week and his representatives have been ambitiously pushing to triple his salary to wages of around £240,000-a-week.
They feel this is consistent with the contracts handed out to the likes of Romelu Lukaku and Raheem Sterling in the last 18 months and want Mount’s salary to reflect his status as a first-team star.
However, after splurging close to £600m since Todd Boehly’s takeover last summer, Chelsea are walking a Financial Fair Play tightrope.
While the likes of Mykhailo Mudryk and Enzo Fernandez have been put on long-term contracts to get around the UEFA guidelines, Mount is seeking wages that would make him one of the highest paid players at the club.
The Daily Mail say that, after rejecting Chelsea’s last offer, talks have now broken down between the two parties.
It points towards a summer exit for Mount, who has attracted interest from Liverpool and West Ham.
