Ring in the cabin It is the latest film directed by M. Night Shyamalan, and it builds on the national bestseller The cabin at the end of the world by Paul Tremblay. The new film follows a family vacation at a remote cabin held captive by four armed strangers who claim that if they don’t make an unthinkable decision, it will spell the end of the world. The couple is played by Jonathan Groff and Ben Aldridge, with whom he recently spoke ComicBook.comBrandon Davis for their role in the movie.
“So Eric and Andrew are a couple,” Aldridge (Andrew) explained. “They have an adopted daughter, named Wen. They’re really united and they’re very in love, but I think they’re two very different people. They kind of, yin and yang with each other and balance each other out I would say very well. Andrew is, Andrew is actually a little bit, loose.” A little bit, a little more comfortable and Eric is a little bit more wounded, what do you say? Careful, maybe?”
Groff (Eric) added, “Although you’re more laid back, I’d say Andrew is more critical thinking, and Eric is more of a believer… I think Night throws it in really well because we’re kind of getting along with those two. I think Ben is more of a believer.” I’m a bit of a critical thinker and I’m a bit more, than a, I won’t say I’m naive, but I’m quick to believe.”
“You’re a little more,” Aldridge replied, “Yeah, and…” than I am.
The duo’s on-screen daughter, Wen, is played by Christine Coy who also speaks to her ComicBook.com. “Wayne is just a little girl, she’s the daughter of Daddy Eric and Daddy Andrew. She’s very curious and she’s very cute, I guess.”
How Dave Bautista felt working with M. Night Shyamalan?
Marvel star Dave Bautista also appears in the movie, and has a chat with him ComicBook.com On how Shyamalan has challenged his acting skills.
“It’s always a different experience but with Night, with this role, because it was a difficult role and Night… is very specific about what he wants,” Bautista explained. “So I was constantly trying to, you know, have a conversation with him and lean on him. There was a very big internal struggle with Leonard’s performance because it was so layered and I just wanted to make sure that was right. And we also had the pressure of being on one camera, on film, so In all this dialogue and it was really hard. So anyway, that was what I was looking forward to. It was night, night constantly, constant conversations, long, drawn-out conversations.”
