LATEST: Ex-SGF, Olu Falae Reacts To Alleged Attack On Buhari In Kano

Chief Olu Falae, a former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, has condemned the reported attack on President Muhammadu Buhari’s convoy in Kano State on Monday.

During President Buhari’s formal visit to the state, some enraged youths hurled stones at his advance vehicle and helicopter.

Falae, speaking at an event in Akure, the capital of Ondo State, on Tuesday, described stone-throwing a president’s convoy as an uncivilized behavior.

He said, “It is most unfortunate, and nothing justifies people stoning their President. It is the height of incivility.

“Yes, people are angry about certain things, but as a civilised society in a democracy, we operate within the law. Stoning a President is not legal, not right, and not civilised. It must be condemned.”

Meanwhile, the Presidency accused the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) of latching onto “false claims” regarding the stoning of the President’s convoy in Kano in a statement issued by the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu.

Shehu claimed that the crowd seen in widely distributed video footage was made up of “innocent children encouraged by politicians and terrorist sympathisers.”
