Police Chase: High-speed pursuit in Brazoria County ends in car crash on Galveston on Broadway at 59th Street, officials say

Brazil County, Texas (KTRK) – A high-speed chase with Brazoria County deputies left two people injured after they crashed into a utility pole in Galveston on Monday, officials said.

Brazoria County officials said the chase’s speeds exceeded 105 mph and ended in an accident on Broadway at 59th Street in the afternoon.

Galveston County Sheriff Henry Trochisett said he got involved in the pursuit after seeing the fleeing suspect driving toward Broadway and 61st Street.

Trochesette said he positioned his SUV to steer the suspect away from other cars at the intersection.

The suspect, who was driving a Cadillac Escalade SUV, swerved into the lawn area in front of a former tow company’s yard and crashed through a utility pole before ending up in a gas station parking lot.

Trochesset said the man behind the wheel and one of the passengers were taken to hospital. He said a puppy was also in the car but did not appear to be injured.

After conducting a search of the suspect’s car, Trochesette said they recovered an unspecified amount of drugs.

He also said that the passenger in the car had an outstanding arrest warrant.
