The Flash season 9 has confirmed three more returning characters as the Arrowverse drama gets ready to enter its final season. The longest-running Arrowverse show is days away from its final season premiere as The Flash season 9 kicks off this Wednesday. After starring as Barry Allen for nearly a decade, Grant Gustin is suiting up for one more season as the Scarlet Speedster. While The CW renewed The Flash for season 9, it will be the shortest one yet, with only 13 episodes.
With less than 20 episodes, The Flash season 9 is not holding back when it comes to fan favorites. EW reports the final season will feature the return of Rick Cosnett, Jessica Parker Kennedy and Matt Letscher. Kennedy will be back as Nora West-Allen, a.k.a. XS, while Letscher is getting another turn at portraying the original Reverse-Flash. Cosnett will likely play some iteration of Eddie Thawne, who died in The Flash season 1. The Flash showrunner Eric Wallace said the following about each actor’s return for the final season:
Letscher, Kennedy, and Cosnett are only three of several exciting Arrowverse stars that will be back in The Flash season 9. As far as other Flash characters go, a few returning villains are showing up with Pied Piper, Hotness, Rainbow Raider, and Goldface. Batwoman’s Javicia Leslie will be showing up as not one but two characters. Outside of playing Ryan Wilder, she will also be portraying a new take on the DC foe, Red Death. Supergirl’s Nicole Maines will return to the franchise as Dreamer for a single episode of The Flash season 9.
Episode 9 is gearing up to be one of the biggest The Flash season 9 installments in the final season. Keiynan Lonsdale and Sendhil Ramamurthy are reprising the roles of Kid Flash and Bloodwork, respectively. The show’s swan-song season will also feature a number of Arrow stars with Stephen Amell’s Green Arrow and David Ramsey’s John Diggle set to appear too. With only a few episodes left to film, time will tell if other guest stars will be announced to return.
The Flash season 9 ending the series will also mark a major cornerstone of the Arrowverse. The show is the last remaining Earth-Prime-based series in the franchise since Superman & Lois is set on another Earth. Unless they do spinoffs, the Earth-Prime side of the Arrowverse will officially be done this year. As The Flash season 9 gets ready to premiere later this week, it will be exciting to see how all these guest stars come in to play.
