The Pentagon says a suspected Chinese spy balloon has been spotted over the US
A senior defense official said Thursday that the Department of Defense is “confident” that the balloon spotted over Montana is a surveillance balloon from China.
The defense official said Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Mark Milley and Vice President Gen. Christopher Grady recommended against “kinetic action” because of the potential danger from falling debris.
President Joe Biden has been briefed on the situation.
This is an urgent story. It will be updated.
