The All Elite Wrestling roster has been affected by a number of external factors. While the biggest external hurdles of 2022 came in the form of injuries and suspensions, the problems of 2023 were related to work visas. Canadian star Kenny Omega missed several weeks in January due to visa complications while Mexico’s Bandido, Rey Fenix and Pentagon Jr. were off TV all of February due to similar complications. While those aforementioned superstars have since worked out their issues, with all four men wrestling in the United States this month, another AEW talent has started having visa issues.
According to the Observer Wrestlingshe missed AEW Women’s Champion Jamie Hayter AEW Dynamite This week due to “reasons for obtaining a visa”. It was added that Hayter, a native of Hampshire, is now back in England. The report added that her status was “fully improved” but it was unclear when she would return to television.
Hayter wrestled one last time AEW Revolution Earlier this month, she successfully defended her title against Robbie Suho and Saraya. She is currently involved in a multi-female feud between The Outcasts, a trio of superstars who made their name elsewhere, and the “AEW originals,” a unit of women considered homegrown talent within Tony Khan’s promotion.
The past six months have provided some of the most memorable moments of Hayter’s career. The 27-year-old superstar won the AEW Women’s Championship at the AEW Full Gear in November after a massive swell of fan support and has ridden that momentum ever since.
“The crowd cared,” Hayter said late last year. “I never knew if they would. But they were loudly chanting my name.” “It was emotional. I’m still getting to know people. They’re still getting to know me, too. And their acceptance, that was it.”
It’s not clear who will challenge Hayter for the AEW Women’s Championship when she returns, but the odds are in favor of someone from The Outcasts. Hayter has wrestled all three members of The Outcasts in varying capacities, defeating Toni Storm to win the title in a singles match and most recently defending it against Suho and Saraya. Storm never received a rematch, which could indicate that she’s next in line when Hayter returns.
