Britain’s biggest movie fan visits the cinema 208 times in one year | Movies | entertainment

A man has been named the UK’s biggest film fan after visiting the cinema 208 times.

Mark Green visited the local cinema four times a week and watched 75 films over the course of 12 months.

The 43-year-old from Glasgow watches multiple movies a day and goes to see some new releases up to eight times.

His favorites in 2022 were Elvis and Avatar: The Way of Water.

Marks says he’s been a movie buff for as long as he can remember, with his first cinematic memory being of seeing Ewoks when watching Return of the Jedi.

He said that films like The Goonies, E.T., and Back To The Future defined his childhood.

Mark, who enjoys going to the movies alone and with family and friends, has described cinema as the greatest art form, with James Cameron’s Titanic as his favorite of all time.

Mark entered a contest he’s running Show cinemas To find the UK’s biggest cinema fan.

He has now been rewarded with an annual ticket to his favorite venue, Showcase Cinema de Lux Glasgow.

Mark said: “The physical act of getting ready to go to the cinema, thinking about what I’m going to watch, humming into the screen before the movie starts and then the lights are dimmed and everyone is silent makes the cinema a much more pleasant experience to watch a movie at home.

“I was baptized in the ’80s cinema furnace, and Steven Spielberg pretty much shaped my childhood.

“This is why I love Showcase Cinemas so much, they always show flashback movies throughout the year, which gives me a chance to see the movies I used to love again on the big screen.”

He added, “I can’t believe I won an annual pass to Showcase Cinema.

“I knew I went to the movies a lot, but to think that I went more than anyone else in the country is absolutely insane.”

Mark said his win was “amazing”. He said the films he is looking forward to this year include Oppenheimer and Dionne: Part Two.

John Dixon, Director of Marketing, Showcase Cinemas UK, said: “We are delighted to be able to award Mark an annual pass for 2023.

Our data shows he visited the cinema more than any Insider member in the country last year, so there’s no question he’s a worthy winner.

Mark’s dedication to the cinema experience, specifically Showcase, illustrates our favorite thing about the big screen; seeing people enjoy themselves and become completely immersed in another world.

“We’ve got some great movies coming out this year, so there’s a lot for Mark to grit his teeth…and maybe visit us more than last year!”
