Showrunner David West Read (who may be best loved for Schitt's Creek) has taken the novel of the same name by M.O. Walsh and updated it to reflect the technology that permeates today's society. When the mysterious machine appears inside the local store and offers untapped potential readings for as little as a quarter and a social security number, everyone is town is ready to upgrade except for high school teacher Dusty.
