Duo Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore have made a total of three romantic comedies together since 1998. They began their on-screen partnership with wedding singerfollowed by 2004 50 first datesand the most recent collaboration in 2014 mixed. The old friends are now looking for their fourth project together. Barrymore and Sandler will make another movie together, now it’s just a matter of finding the right story.
Barrymore recently spoke with ET Canada in Mark Twain Honors and opened up about her on-screen future with Sandler. According to her, the two are “actively looking” for their next movie together.
“We may have mentioned something about that this morning. We’re actively seeking,” Barrymore said. “I think it’s important for us to relate to it. Maybe it’s not redundant for something we’ve done in the past, but don’t try to prove that we’re doing something different just to prove it. It’s like chemistry, you know? And it’s going to be a little bit of this, a little bit of that.” .
And she continued, “I will say this.” “Adam and I really seem to know it when we know it. And we’re like, ‘This is it.’” “
Barrymore went on to talk about the specific kind of project she and Sandler are trying to find together, since they want the films they do together to have a personal connection for both of them.
“We work really hard on the writing to balance the male and female perspective,” she said. “We always try to bring in something that we think is really useful, in terms of storylines, what we relate to or what we want to see in the story, because we need that. We make it personal, even though we don’t have to there.”
The Barrymore and Sandler collaboration has remained a favorite among rom-com fans over the years, and there was always hope that they would find a way to make more movies together. The duo have teased new projects in the past, saying back in 2020 that they were talking about a possible collaboration. Now there really seems to be some oomph.
