'Fav player': £29m Chelsea star hails Aston Villa player on international duty

Noni Madueke has told Aston Villa midfielder Jacob Ramsey on Instagram that he is the Chelsea star’s ‘fav player’ after he netted for England U21s against France U21s on Saturday.

Both Noni Madueke and Jacob Ramsey came off the bench to score, as Lee Carsley’s men breezed past a young French side that had Crystal Palace’s Michael Olise, midfielder Rayan Cherki and left-back Yasser Larouci in their starting XI.

The fact that England’s young guns have those two on the bench just proves the depth in quality that is coming through, with Madueke recently making a £29 million transfer to Stamford Bridge (Sky Sports) and Ramsey a regular for Unai Emery’s in-form Aston Villa.

The Young Lions had to be patient for their goals because the opening strike came after the 50th minute when Arsenal playmaker Emile Smith Rowe headed past his side in front.

That’s when Madueke and Ramsey entered the fray and England ran riot, including three goals in nine minutes.

Nonetheless, when Ramsey posted his delight at scoring for his country on Instagram, in the comments section, he received high praise for his cameo, with Tim Iroegbunam calling his fellow academy star ‘the best’ and Leeds United-owned Charlie Cresswell adding ‘lovely stuff’.

CHELSEA V ASTON VILLA

Both Madueke and Ramsey are teammates for now, but come next Saturday, they will be at each other’s throats when Aston Villa travel to Stamford Bridge to take on Chelsea.

Villa are level on points with tenth-placed Chelsea in the table, so a win for Emery’s side would see the Midlands outfit leapfrog Graham Potter’s men in the table.

Given the stupid amount of money Todd Boehly has spent over two transfer windows, it’s a sign that Chelsea fans don’t want to see and that’s the West London club sitting in the bottom half of the Premier League table.
