Final Four: Miami Hurricanes star Nigel Buck has ties to Houston, with his sister who has lived in Texas for over a decade

Houston, Texas (KTRK) – When the University of Miami men’s basketball team eliminated Houston and Texas from the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament, that didn’t mean the Final Four would be without a Lone Star State call.

Angelica Buck, the sister of Miami star Nigel Buck, is a Houstonian who has called Texas home for over a decade.

“It’s so crazy,” Anjelica admitted on ABC13 on Wednesday. “The Final Four takes place in a whole bunch of different places, so for it to be in Houston — it’s amazing. That’s the craziest thing that’s ever happened to me.”

Angelica admits that she lacks athletic ability, so she was stunned to watch her brother on the court, who was voted the best player in the Midwest region. Anjelica says she’s already starting to get excited about her brother’s Hurricanes reaching the Final Four after the team advanced to the Sweet 16.

“You’re an optimist,” Buck admitted. “You’re an optimist throughout the ACC — and as the games get closer, you start to get more realistic.”

Miami’s road to Houston included wins against the University of Houston and the University of Texas. Angelica admits that many friends and co-workers didn’t take kindly to her brother’s team eliminating their favorite team.

“I got a lot of flash,” Anjelica shared. “Tons of text messages. I’m sorry – that’s the class we got. I’m trying to joke around and lighten up for them. I’m happy. I want to go to the Final Four. It’s in Houston!”

On Saturday, Nigel and Miami Yukon will face off at NRG Stadium in front of more than 70,000 fans. This building won’t be the only place in Houston that’s full of people this weekend.

“The house is going to be a bit crowded,” Angelica laughed when asked how many family and friends she would be hosting during the Final Four.
