The Henry Bernick Entrepreneurship Center (HBEC) of Georgian College, with support from Simcoe County, is hosting Business Etiquette and Personal Branding, a networking workshop, on March 30 to help community newcomers on their entrepreneurial journey. focuses on.
The workshop features a panel of experts and immigrant-based business owners who share their expertise and experiences with a wide variety of companies operating in Canada.
Jan Bailey, founder of Ovation, an expert in speaker training, is a personal branding expert who will be facilitating the panel discussion. She will discuss tools and strategies for communicating, negotiating, building and maintaining customer relationships, which can help foster business and trust.
Participants were introduced by Miguel Abascal, Founder of UnstoppableMe.Rocks, Road Map to Canada Immigration Consulting Inc. Rosa Diaz, Founder, and Paulo Cardoso, Chief Partnerships Officer, JKR Canada, will also listen. They’ll share stories as business owners—how they overcame obstacles, things they wish they’d known from the start, and tips on how to have the best “talker” business card.
The workshop will begin at 1 p.m. and will include the opportunity for participants to network and make useful business connections on the XcelerateNOW marketplace filled with great vendors and products from local and immigrant-owned businesses. Beginning at 4 p.m. the Sandbox Center will host its Social Hour where participants can continue networking with members of the community.
The workshop is part of the Start Now series, funded in partnership with Simcoe County, which includes a collection of workshops and networking events on specific topics for business owners new to Canada. All workshops in the series will be recorded and available on Bernick Online, which will also be an ongoing resource for newcomers.

The Start Now series is part of HBEC’s XcelerateNOW program – a new initiative focused on supporting newcomers, immigrants and refugees with entrepreneurship support, mentorship, funding opportunities and resources.
