"Good football": Manager who Jürgen Klopp called a "talent" in 2017 now wants Tottenham talks
A very interesting opportunity presented itself to Tottenham on Thursday when Julian Nagelsmann was sacked by Bayern Munich.
The 35-year-old received his P45 despite losing just three of his 37 games in charge this season, winning 27 of those outings. Now, Spurs are said to be on red alert.
If Nagelsmann does end up at Tottenham, the appointment would seemingly come with Jürgen Klopp’s approval.
What’s the story?
Well – according to Sky Sports – Nagelsmann is open to holding talks with Tottenham about replacing Antonio Conte.
It was the Telegraph who claimed that Daniel Levy wanted to speak to the German – his No.1 choice to replace José Mourinho back in 2021 – about taking over from the Italian, with Nagelsmann now believed to be keen on holding discussions with the 61-year-old.
A move to the Premier League for Nagelsmann would see him compete against Klopp once again.
Nagelsmann and Klopp have met on four occasions, with the latter’s Liverpool side winning all four with two coming against RB Leipzig, and the other two against TSG Hoffenheim.
Before their first meeting – a Champions League Play Off match in 2017 – Klopp heaped praise on his fellow German.
Sky Sports quote the 55-year-old as saying: “Big, big, big coaching talent. We don’t know each other very well because we didn’t really have time – when I left Germany I think he was an U19 coach or something like this.”
“But since, we have wrote messages and things like this. I’ve really followed his way since then because I like good football and obviously his team is playing interesting and good football.”
Tottenham could hire Klopp 2.0 in Nagelsmann
There are many similarities between Klopp and Nagelsmann in terms of playing style.
Both look to contain the opposition by overloading central areas and pressing high, before expanding wide when winning back possession with pacey attackers.

If Tottenham can convince Nagelsmann to replace Conte, it would be a major coup – to say the least.
