Sky Sports journalist Dharmesh Sheth has said that Mauricio Pochettino does not want to replace Antonio Conte at Tottenham Hotspur right now.
The well-known and well-respected journalist has told GiveMeSport that the information he has got regarding Pochettino is that he wants to wait until the end of the season before making a decision whether or not to return to Tottenham.
Sheth has suggested that Pochettino, who is without a managerial role at the moment, could be waiting for the Real Madrid managerial job in the summer of 2023.
The Times have reported that Tottenham have Pochettino on the list of candidates they want to replace Antonio Conte with.
Conte is out of contract at Spurs at the end of the season, but the North London club could reportedly sack the Italian boss now following his extraordinary outburst last weekend.

Sheth said: “You’ll find that a lot of these big-name managers who Tottenham will be looking at, they tend to say, ‘I’ll just keep my powder dry until the summer, then I’ll assess all of my options’. That’s definitely the information we’re getting with regard to Mauricio Pochettino.
“He wants to assess all of his options in the summer, because, you know what, there’s another big job that could be coming around as well.
“There’s lots of talk about Carlo Ancelotti going from Real Madrid to the Brazilian national team come the end of the season and then suddenly, you’ve got the biggest job, you could argue in world football, for a manager available.”
Sensible stance
We are not surprised at all to learn that Mauricio Pochettino prefers to wait until the end of the season before making a decision regarding Tottenham Hotspur.
It makes perfect sense.
After all, it would give Pochettino time to have a proper think about a return to Tottenham.
It would also allow the Argentine to have proper conversations with Tottenham on how to proceed.
There is no need for Pochettino to take the Tottenham job right away.
