Houston robbers can’t drive a stick shift: Police are looking for two men who terrorized a home remodel in the city’s South Park neighborhood

Houston, Texas (KTRK) – A home remodeler was intimidated earlier this month when police said two men — one armed with a shotgun, the other with a handgun — tried to get away with the victim’s truck.

But the would-be thieves themselves ran into trouble during their escape. Houston police said they could not operate in a manual transmission.

It was this knowledge that made the difference that separated the failed deactivation from the success on March 16th. On Wednesday, nearly two weeks after the robbery, the Houston Police Department’s Robbery Division provided composite sketches of two individuals it believes got in trouble with the crime. .

According to the information that the HPD is accompanied by the graphics, the victim, who worked at a home in the 9300 Martin Luther King Jr. building in the South Park neighborhood of southeast Houston, heard a knock on the door at about 6:10 p.m. 2 p.m. Individuals who claimed to have his own digging tool.

The victim told police he wasn’t sure what they were talking about and opened the door, only to be met with a gun pointed at him.

The suspects then forced their way to the work site, searched the victim’s pockets, and removed his truck keys and wallet. The thieves also took tools as they boarded his truck in order to escape.

That was when the police said things did not go according to the suspects’ plans. Instead, the police stated, the robbers became frustrated and took off on foot.

On the other side, west of MLK, 173 burglaries have been recorded in the past 12 months in the designated Blueridge-Sunnyside-Brook Haven-Bayou Estates area, which is home to about 28,000 residents.
