How to easily switch from iPhone to Galaxy S23

It’s a big change moving from an iPhone to an Android device. And if you are using a timer for the first time, it will probably be difficult for you to learn a new mobile operating system while keeping up with this step. Fortunately, data transfer tools have been around for several years and make the transition easier. Although these tools aren’t perfect, they can do a lot of tricky work, like transferring apps, media, contacts, wallpapers, and more to your new phone.

I’m the kind of person who always likes to start over on a new smartphone, and while that was the case at first, there were some things that simply couldn’t be transferred manually without using a transfer tool. In my case, my WhatsApp data was from iPhone to Samsung Galaxy S23+. But this can be used with any iPhone and Samsung Galaxy compatible device. While I’ve seen ways to do this from the support site, it just didn’t work for me. So, in the end, I decided to wipe my Android phone and start over using Samsung’s Smart Switch tool.

before you start

This tutorial was created with an iPhone 14 Pro running iOS 16 and a Samsung Galaxy S23+ running Android 13. We used Samsung’s Smart Switch tool, which is on the latest version at the time of writing: version 3.7.41.3. The transfer tool is not exclusive to the Galaxy S23 series and is available for use with all recent Samsung devices. Before you begin the process, make sure that both devices are charged up to 100%. In addition, you will also need a USB-C to Lightning cable to transfer information between devices.

These 3-foot cables will give you the fastest possible charging speeds with any devices that use a Lightning power connector.

Start the conversion process

The process of getting things started is actually quite simple. If you’re starting up your Samsung device for the first time, and it’s a recent product, you’ll likely be asked in the setup process if you want to transfer your information. If you skip this step, it won’t be a big deal, since you’ll still be able to use the Easy Transfer tool after booting into the operating system for the first time.

  1. Open Samsung Smart Switch and make sure your phone is set to Data reception.
  2. Select a file sourcein this case, the iPhone.
  3. Connect your cable.
  4. The app will start looking for information on your old device.
  5. Once it is detected, you can choose the type of data you want to transfer.
  6. When you confirm your selection, it will display the apps that will be downloaded to the new phone.
  7. click install.
  8. The transfer tool will indicate which applications or data cannot be transferred. click the next.
  9. The transfer will start. Times will vary.
  10. handle Keep the screen on.
  11. After the transfer is completed, let him finish the optimization process.
  12. When the process is complete, your Samsung smartphone will look similar to your iPhone.

Things to know after completing the transfer

While the Samsung Smart Switch tool does a good job, it’s not perfect. You’ll want to go through all of your information and apps to see if things have moved over completely. There is always a chance that you may have to download an app or move some things around manually.

Also, if you’re moving from an iPhone to a Samsung device, your login information for the apps won’t be populated automatically. So you will have to manually sign in to the apps before you start using them. While this isn’t much of an issue for most apps, if you’re using something like Line or WhatsApp, you’ll want to back up your information before moving things on.

While Line cannot be transferred in my case, there is an option that allows you to transfer WhatsApp data such as conversations from iPhone to Samsung. If this is important to you, make sure to select the appropriate in-app backup options when transferring to make things easier. The app will guide you, but you will need to head into your WhatsApp settings to retrieve this data.

Final thoughts

Overall, this was a very good experience, as the transition process took very little effort. If you are someone switching from an iPhone to a Samsung phone, I highly recommend this tool to make things look as close as possible to your old phone. Of course, if you want to start from scratch, that’s the option as well.
