After premiering in November 2021, Yellowjackets has slowly evolved into a hit for Showtime. The show is set at two points in time: 1996 and the present day. In 1996, a high school women’s soccer team is traveling to a national championship when their private plane crashes deep in the Canadian wilderness.
They stayed there for 19 months. In the present, the great survivors continue to deal with the mysteries of what happened in the jungle and what they had to do to survive.
The end of the first season revealed a horrific death in the past and the possibility of an additional, previously unmentioned, survivor in the present day. Get an update with our guide on what to know ahead of the Yellowjackets season 2 premiere.

Yellowjackets Season 2 Trailers
The full Yellowjackets season 2 trailer begins with Van telling the story of the wilderness: “She was beautiful, but she was also violent and misunderstood.”
The darkness the teens found is back with the survivors. And it still haunts them today:
The first trailer for the Yellowjackets’ second season appears to show an adult Natalie being hypnotized into a flashback. When asked what she sees, Nat says ominously, “Darkness. We brought it back with us.” goosebumps!
The remainder of the trailer shows flashes of blurry adults and teens crying, the whole winter in the wilderness and rituals around a bonfire.

Season 2 cast
Most of the Yellowjackets cast members will return for Season 2. This includes the cast in the current schedule:

- Tawny Cypress in adult character Taissa, Politician
- Juliette Lewis as adult Natalie, a struggling addict

- Sarah Desjardins as Callie, the daughter of Jeff and Shauna

- Alex Windham as Kevin, Natalie’s former best friend and police officer
- Tonya Cornelis as an adult Ally, a former member of the team who was not on the plane

In addition to the cast members of the 1996 timeline:

While Jackie dies in the finale, it’s possible we’ll see Ella Purnell as the team’s captain again. She has appeared in visions/hallucinations of the adult Shauna in the current timeline.
It is unlikely that Peter Gadiot will appear in Season 2 as Adam, the artist who has an affair with Shauna. Kill him and dismember his body. Then again, she can also hallucinate him, too.
The Yellowjackets Season 2 also adds a few new faces. Lauren Ambrose (Six Feet Under, Maid) will play adult Van, while Simon Kessel is adult Lottie.
Elijah Wood joins the cast in a recurring role as Walter, a citizen detective. And Melanie Lynskey’s husband, Jason Ritter, appears.
Yellowjackets season 2 theories
Talking about Yellowjacket theories is almost as good as watching the show itself! reddit (Opens in a new tab) A good place to fall into the role of a bunny.
Here are some of the biggest and most outlandish theories we’ve seen in Season 2.
The hole girl is Ally: In the first scene in the pilot, a girl runs through the snowy forest and falls to her death in a hole. It appears that a group of people, led by the Queen Antler, have chopped it up into a meal. Some fans think the scene may not be a flashback to 1996, but could be set in the present day – and that the girl is Ally, Shauna, and Jeff’s daughter.
Active Lottie cult: The Queen of Antler appears to be Lottie (or at least she was for a while in the past). As the pit girl scene shows, she has at least six members in her sect. But the sect seemed to have moved to the outside world outside the forest. In the present day, Natalie’s sponsor discovers that Lottie withdrew money from Travis’ bank account after his death. Perhaps she used the money to fund her sect. Apparently, members of that cult kidnapped Natalie from her hotel room before she shot herself.
Adult Tessa In Worship: The finale also revealed that Taissa has a sacrificial altar in her basement. His wife, Simone, finds their lost dog’s severed head and what appears to be a human heart (perhaps an Adam’s heart?). Simon’s discovery is intersected with Taissa learning that she won the Senate race. Is Tai still a member of the sect? Did she make the sacrifice thinking it would help her win?
code: There have been plenty of theories about the mysterious symbol throughout the show’s run. Some fans think it depicts a woman hanging upside down from a hook, like a pit girl. Others think it has something to do with chemistry. and one Redditor (Opens in a new tab) He thinks it’s a trig problem that points to escape.
The man without eyes: This terrifying figure appeared several times to Taissa as a child, teen, and adult. It might just be the specter of death that’s all on her mind. Some fans think he’s the ghost of the hunter the teens live in at his cabin. Others believe he is a demon/monster influencing Lottie and the cult members to become cannibals.
