Directed by Jeremy Garelick, the sequel to the 2019 Netflix movie Murder Mystery premiered on the platform on Friday, March 31st 2023, and finds Nick and Audrey Spitz attempting to solve the mystery of the Maharaja’s abduction after receiving an invite to his wedding.

Who plays Saira in Murder Mystery 2?
The character of Saira in Murder Mystery 2 is played by Kuhoo Verma.
She’s sure to be a highlight tackling the role of the Maharaja’s sister (Adeel Akhtar reprising his role from the first film).
You may recognize the 27-year-old actress from her screen-acting debut, which was in 2017’s The Big Sick (she played Zubeida). She co-starred with Kumail Nanjiani and Zoe Kazan as the central couple in the romantic comedy that both critics and general audiences alike fell hard for. After that, she voiced Rani Kanaujia in a 2019 short called Girl Icon, the same year she played Leela in the TV series Insomnia.
Moving forward, she landed the part of Sunny in the 2021 Hulu film Plan B. It tells the story of a high school student and her friend in search of a Plan B pill following a regrettable night.
Her closest role prior to Murder Mystery 2 was in the 2022 short Run For It (Aish). Looking ahead, she’s already been cast as Violet Marie in the forthcoming comedy Space Cadet starring Emma Roberts.

Appearing in Plan B ‘was extremely healing for’ Verma
In an interview with Broadway, Kuhoo explained what her role as a highschool student in Plan B meant to her. When asked what she’d tell her younger self if ever given the chance, she said:
“When you’re that age and also a queer person of color, how you see yourself versus how the world sees you—there’s a lot of confusion, shame and guilt in that,” she began.
“For me to go back and say, ‘You are loved. You’re worthy. You can make your own decisions and stand by them’—unpacking that was extremely healing for me.”
