Junior Firpo has spoken highly about Jack Harrison and stated he is ‘one of the best’ and how he loves playing with the Leeds United winger at Elland Road.
After repping Barcelona, Junior Firpo says there hasn’t been a player like Jack Harrison that helps him so much from a defensive aspect.
That’s something Harrison has always had in his locker and it’s a big reason why Marcelo Bielsa brought him on a loan deal from Manchester City when Leeds were in the Championship.
Those loan deals became permanent once the Whites returned to the big time, as Harrison saw interest in his talents ramp up once he started performing in the Premier League.
Prior to Eddie Howe’s Newcastle United signing Anthony Gordon from Everton, there was talk of the Champions League-chasing side wanting Leeds’ man on the left flank.
In the end, nothing materialised, as Junior Firpo shared what it’s like playing with the Englishman as the £13 million man (Sky Sports) told Leeds’ official podcast.
“With Jacky (Harrison), I don’t need to work too much (on overlaps and their combination on the left-hand side),” said Firpo. “We just have a really good relationship in and out of the pitch, so we don’t need to work.
“He’s one of the best wingers I had, in terms of helping the fullback. This is really important for the fullback when you have a winger that is committed to the work and helps you with the 2 v 1’s, especially here in the Premier League where every team has amazing wingers. It’s unbelievable to have him.”
HARRISON’S RECENT FORM
Leeds fans will be glad that the club didn’t part ways with Harrison, either last summer or during the past winter transfer window.
In recent weeks, the 26-year-old has been in outstanding form for the Whites as Javi Gracia’s side currently sit outside of the Premier League’s relegation zone.
Leeds want to avoid Harrison scoring on the last day of the season in order to help keep the club up, the relegation battle will go to the final day again, it’s just a case of avoiding that drama that could see several teams at risk of being swallowed up.
