With just entering a line of text into Magic Composer, OnCyber can automatically change the look and color of a sky, drop an artist’s NFT works from your connected crypto wallet, change the look and size of a picture frame in the world Can customize, and much more. The adoption of AI tooling wasn’t about chasing the latest buzzy tech trend, but rather finding another way for the platform to help users unlock their creativity. Boutleb explained that there’s a disconnect between the power of OnCyber’s game-like engine and visual user interface.
Magic Composer provides users with a way to get what they want with relative ease. And as OnCyber layers in additional world-building features in the coming months and provides ways for creators to develop rich environments, AI tools will cut through some of the complexity and create new ways to personalize online 3D spaces. Oncyber plans to roll out the AI tool to a select group of testers starting Monday, March 20, but Boutaleb said it won’t be long before it reaches public users — perhaps a few days later.
More robust AI functionality is also on the horizon. Launched in 2021, OnCyber calls itself a metaverse platform, and shares similarities with web3 metaverse gaming platforms such as Decentraland and The Sandbox that let users customize their own online spaces.
But unlike those platforms, Onciber does not sell the NFT land plots that are needed to build within those worlds, defying groundswell of “FOMO” and speculation linked to land shortages. OnCiber does sell NFT-based templates, however, working with architects and designers to develop prefab spaces that can be further personalized.
However, there are also free positions and templates, and you don’t need an NFT or crypto wallet to create a position. OnCyber also allows users to bring NFTs owned in Ethereum, Solana, Polygon and other networks. Some NFT collectors use OnCyber to create their own virtual art galleries, while others use the platform to host immersive online community events.
Because Onciber—which raised $6.7 million last year—wasn’t tied to the NFT land hype cycle, which rises and then falls, Boutleub said his team focused on a steady iteration of the platform. Other recent additions include advanced VR support and the ability to port in external video and screen-sharing streams.
