Report: Liverpool undecided over ‘absolutely insane’ player Celtic want

Caoimhin Kelleher is a player in demand, with Ange Postecoglou’s Celtic and Unai Emery’s Aston Villa among the clubs linked with the Liverpool goalkeeper.

According to The Transfer Room earlier this month, Celtic, Aston Villa and Leicester City all are interested in signing Kelleher from Premier League giants Liverpool in the summer transfer window.

Defending Scottish Premiership champions Celtic are looking at Liverpool goalkeeper Kelleher as a potential long-term successor to Joe Hart.

Villa could make a move for the Republic of Ireland international if Emiliano Martinez leaves.

The former Arsenal goalkeeper has been linked with Tottenham Hotspur.

Fabrizio Romano has now given his take on the situation of Kelleher at Liverpool.

The Italian journalist has told CaughtOffSide that Liverpool have not made a decision on the future of the 24-year-old, described by Reds manager Klopp as “absolutely insane” and “the best No.2 in the world” in The London Evening Standard in February 2022.

Romano has said that the former Premier League and UEFA Champions League winners will do so only at the end of the season.

Kelleher is the number two goalkeeper at Liverpool, who have Brazil international Alisson firmly as the first choice.

Liverpool stance on Celtic and Aston Villa target Caoimhin Kelleher

Romano said: “Despite links about Caoimhin Kelleher and a possible move away from Liverpool, no decision has been made on this one yet, and it’s the same for Fabio Carvalho.

“The club will decide on those situations/loans in May/June, also based on player’s preferences.”
