The Times have reported that Tottenham are interested in appointing Nagelsmann as their new manager following his departure from Bayern Munich.
Thomas Tuchel, who was also linked with Tottenham, has replaced Nagelsmann at Bayern.
Tottenham are interested in speaking to the 35-year-old German, according to the report, which has added that his “representatives are aware of the situation” at Spurs.
The Times have claimed that Nagelsmann “would like to take his time before taking another job”.
Antonio Conte is in charge of Spurs at the moment, but Tottenham could sack him over the international break, according to the report.
HITC Verdict: Summer move more likely
In our view, Tottenham Hotspur are more likely to appoint Julian Nagelsmann in the summer of 2023 than right now.
We do not think that the German will switch straight back to work.
It is very likely that Nagelsmann will take some time off, digest his sacking from Bayern, reflect on what went wrong for him at the German club, and then take the next step in his career.
So, we believe that while Tottenham should open talks with Nagelsmann now, they should not hold any hope of getting him before the end of the season.
