Report: Real Madrid now 'firmly intend' to beat Graham Potter & Newcastle to £88m superstar

Real Madrid have reportedly made Napoli star Khvicha Kvaratskhelia one of their summer priorities, with Chelsea and Newcastle United also interested in signing the Georgian winger.
According to CalcioMercato, the La Liga giants ‘firmly intend’ to make an attempt to sign the 22-year-old attacker, who this season has been one of the best players in Europe, with Kvaratskhelia bagging 14 goals and 16 assists in all competitions for Napoli.
As a result, Kvaratskhelia has become one of the most sought-after players in the market, with journalist Graeme Bailey claiming that both Chelsea and Newcastle are interested in signing the attacker, who Napoli won’t even consider selling unless offers of €100m (£88m) are made.
However, with Madrid now interested in signing Kvaratskhelia as a main target for the summer, Los Blancos could be willing to make a bid to bring the Napoli star to the Spanish capital, which could spur Graham Potter’s Chelsea and Newcastle into life.
Indeed, the Premier League seems to be Kvaratskhelia’s next destination if reports are to be believed, and for the English duo, Chelsea and Newcastle could make rival bids alongside Madrid to land the Georgian’s signature, which could be one of the biggest deals of the summer.
Moreover, a huge transfer battle could result in Napoli naming a higher asking price for Kvaratskhelia, with the Italian side well within their right to go as big as possible for the 22-year-old given all he has done for the club this season, with Luciano Spalletti’s side on course to win the Scudetto.
Madrid signing Kvaratskhelia would make zero sense
Many would agree that Kvaratskhelia has been the best left-sided winger in Europe this season, with Vinicius Junior arguably the only player who could compete with the Georgian, and therein lies the problem for Madrid, who simply won’t be able to balance out the squad should they sign the Napoli man.
As we know, Vinicius is arguably the poster boy for Madrid this season, and whilst Kvaratskhelia would be a sensational signing in isolation, the club will struggle to make both wingers fit in the same system, a task that few managers would be up for taking.
