Spurs-mad pundit names 6 players he'd like at Tottenham, including £97 star

Spurs-supporting Premier League midfielder Darren Ambrose admits he would take Chelsea trio Romelu Lukaku, Mason Mount and Callum Hudson-Odoi at Tottenham.

Reports of a potential summer ‘firesale’ at Stamford Bridge, via The Times, will not have gone unnoticed by rival top-flight clubs looking to take full advantage.

Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Chrisitan Pulisic, Hakim Ziyech and Raheem Sterling may all be up for grabs over the coming months, and that is without mentioning a couple of England internationals or, indeed, a striker who set Chelsea back a staggering £97 million as recently as 2021.

Lukaku was farmed out on loan to Inter Milan after notching just eight league goals in 2021/22. Ambrose, however, beleives that no one should be writing off a man who’s hat-trick against Sweden on Friday and a further strike against Germany took his Belgium tally to 72 goals in 106 caps.

Could Tottenham replace Harry Kane with Chelsea’s Romelu Lukaku?

“You have to play to Lukaku’s strengths,” argues that former Newcastle and Crystal Palace ace, speaking to talkSPORT (28 March, 9.50pm). “But why don’t you? When you are struggling for goals, and you’ve got an out-and-out goalscorer, why not try to play to his strengths?

“He’s not not fulfilled his potential. He’s a great goalscorer. I think he should want to come back to Chelsea and prove them wrong, albeit with a different manager and different owners.

“You’ve got one of the best out-and-out goalscorers, and they are hard to come by.”

With Harry Kane’s future uncertain, Ambrose believes that Spurs could do worse than to bring in a man with over 200 league strikes as his replacement. Lukaku, meanwhile, is not the only Chelsea player the Tottenham fanatic would welcome with open arms on the other side of the city.

“With Lukaku, if Harry Kane was to leave, that would be a replacement in terms of scoring goals,” Ambrose adds.

“(Would I take) Edoaurd Mendy? Yes, for sure. (Cesar) Azpilicueta and (Kalidou) Koulibaly? No. But I would take Levi Colwill and Trevoh Chalobah and try and improve those two players. I think they’d fit well into the team straight away.

(Mateo) Kovacic? No. (Christian) Pulisic? No. (Hakim) Ziyech? No. (Ruben) Loftus-Cheek, Mount and Hudson-Odoi? Yes, I would take them.

“There’s a good 50, 60 per cent of those players I would take at Spurs!”
