Vatican City — The Vatican said Pope Francis went to a hospital in Rome on Wednesday for some scheduled check-ups.

The 86-year-old Pope spent 10 days in Gemelli Hospital in July 2021 after surgery to narrow his intestines. 33 cm (13 in) of the colon was removed.
Soon after, he said, he made a full recovery and could eat normally, but in an interview with The Associated Press on January 24, he said the diverticula, or bulges in the intestinal wall, “are back.”
