TalkSport presenter and Arsenal fan Laura Woods is ‘very excited’ at the prospect that Martin Odegaard could be about to sign a new long-term contract at the club.
The Arsenal captain was described as someone who is ‘at the centre of everything’ for Mikel Arteta’s Premier League title-chasing side.
A player of real touch, tease and outstanding vision, Martin Odegaard has been one of the standout performers of the 2022/23 Premier League campaign.
Whilst one Norwegian runs riot in a goal-crazy fashion in Manchester, another is cooking up his own magic in London and looking to guide the Gunners to their first Premier League title in nearly two decades.
These performances from Odegaard shouldn’t come as a real surprise because, even last season, he was being dubbed ‘world-class’ by Paul Merson.
Well, all of that could now result in the 24-year-old putting pen-to-paper on a bumper seven-year contract and it left a certain Laura Woods over the moon, as she told talkSPORT.
“Arsenal are ready to offer Norway playmaker Martin Odegaard a new deal to keep him at the club until 2030,” said Woods.
“I am very excited about this one. This is the thing with Arsenal, to make sure that the best players re-sign new deals and get them to commit their future to the club.
“It’s no better time for them to do that than right now when everything is amazing. He is just so great. He is at the centre of everything. He is such a leader as well.”

In the summer, after stripping Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang of the captain’s armband only months before, Arteta decided to hand that key role to Odegaard.
It was a big call from the Arsenal boss because, the last two men to wear that armband, ended up being stripped of their respective roles.
But those were very different times for Arsenal and now the culture of the club has changed, largely thanks to Mikel Arteta and the work he has done over the years.
