Gary Lineker has heaped praise on Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane and Arsenal winger Bukayo Saka on Twitter as they starred for England during their Euro 2024 qualifier over Ukraine at Wembley on Sunday.
The Tottenham and Arsenal duo combined for Harry Kane’s opening goal when England’s highest goalscorer whipped a delightful ball to the flanks for Bukayo Saka, before he curled a cross right into the path of his teammate.
That’s when Saka worked his magic and three minutes later he curled a stunning effort into the top corner, as BBC presenter and former striker Gary Lineker posted on Twitter that the 21-year-old is a ‘wonderfully gifted footballer’.
Both Kane and Saka might be bitter rivals in north London and that will never change. But on the international stage, they are working up quite the partnership.
It could be argued that the duo have been the two in-form English players in the Premier League this season, with Brentford hitman Ivan Toney, Leicester playmaker James Maddison and Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford also producing outstanding seasons.
Nonetheless, when Kane and Saka worked their magic for the Three Lions on Sunday at Wembley, they were lauded by Gary Lineker.
KANE AND SAKA LINK-UP
It’s a combination that’s seriously cooking in England colours and one that is only getting better and better.
That combo will never be seen on the domestic stage, but it’s one Gareth Southgate has to get the absolute out of on the International stage.
England have come very close to securing glory, but not close enough. With players of Kane and Saka’s ilk, that has to change, or else fans will feel more big talent is being wasted.
