Emmanuel Petit believes Arsenal transfer target Victor Osimhen of Napoli would be a superb signing for Paris Saint-Germain. The striker is also a target of the Ligue 1 side.
Nigeria international Osimhen has blown Arsenal legend Petit away with his performances in Serie A this season. The 24-year-old has scored 21 and assisted five goals in 23 games to fire the Azzurri to the top of the table. He also hit four goals in five Champions League ties.
Now, Arsenal are exploring his transfer from Napoli to get Osimhen to the Premier League this summer. Ciro Venerato cited the Gunners’ interest in March 2023 and also suggested Mikel Arteta’s team lead rivals Chelsea and Manchester United despite a lofty asking price.

Napoli president Aurelio de Laurentiis values Osimhen at €150m (£132m) three years after paying LOSC Lille €80m (£70.5m) for him. 90min also cited De Laurentiis’ asking price back in February 2023 and it adds that Napoli did not scare Chelsea away from their top target.
Manchester United are also willing to go big to beat interest from Liverpool in a transfer with Napoli for Osimhen. Calciomercato also reported in February 2023 that the Red Devils are readying a £107m bid. While Paris Saint-Germain have since started a pursuit of their own.
PSG’s sporting consultant Luis Campos met Osimhen’s agent over the international break, per reports by Foot Mercato in March 2023. It also noted that the striker will consider his future in the summer. But he accepts a move to Ligue 1 could rule out a future in England.

Osimhen dreams of playing in the Premier League one day and the Napoli star could see it become a reality amid interest from Arsenal et al in a transfer. But Gunners great Petit has now explained why the striker would be a perfect addition to PSG’s already stacked attack.
“[Osimhen] became the third best goal/minute ratio player in the history of Serie A,” Petit said on RMC Sport this Friday. “He is having an extraordinary season.
“Every year he is progressing. [Osimhen] has incredible qualities that are sorely lacking at PSG. He has a physical presence in the box, he is a very good finisher [and] he has a killer instinct. He is the first to do the pressing [and] he is a bulldog after losing the ball.”
