Adam Sandler’s partnership with Netflix has been a success – if you’re talking about viewership. His films consistently perform well on the streaming service, and his latest, Murder Mystery 2, is no exception.
In less than a day of release, Murder Mystery 2 has already climbed to #2 on Netflix’s Top 10 Movies list. By tomorrow, Helen Hunt’s 2019 thriller I See You is likely to rule the top spot.
The popularity of Murder Mystery 2 isn’t surprising, considering it’s a sequel that re-teamed Sandler with Jennifer Aniston. What is Murder Mystery 2?
Murder Mystery 2 is the direct sequel to 2019’s Murder Mystery, which starred Sandler and Aniston as married couple Nick and Audrey Spitz. In the original, Nick is an NYPD officer, while Audrey is a hairdresser. As they travel to Europe for their anniversary, they become involved in a murder aboard a billionaire’s yacht.
In Murder Mystery 2, Nick and Audrey have become full-time detectives struggling to launch their own investigation agency. They find themselves at the center of an international kidnapping operation when their friend, the Maharaja, is kidnapped at his lavish wedding.
Murder has to be involved, because… well, it’s in the title.
Murder Mystery 2 reviews: What the critics and audience members are saying
Murder Mystery 2 at least improves upon when the first movie hits the reviews section. The original version scored a dismal 44% in both the Tomatometer critics and audience scores.
Part II fared slightly better with a score of 52% among critics and a score of 66% among audience members.

Murder Mystery 2 – Stream or Skip?
If you made it this far in the article, I guess I could say that you should stream Murder Mystery 2. Why not? Your expectations couldn’t be lower. You know exactly what you’re getting. Sandler is Sandler. While he occasionally veers off to do something different – like Uncut Gems or even his latest Netflix movie, Hustle – he can generally be relied upon to deliver broad, wacky juvenile humor.
And look, the movie runs for 90 minutes, so it’s not like you’re wasting a lot of time. Get a little chuckle while folding laundry or something.
