Report: Daniel Levy makes potentially unpopular decision on Tottenham's next manager

Tottenham Hotspur will not be appointing Mauricio Pochettino as their new manager and have told him a return isn’t happening.
Tottenham’s search for a new manager is on after parting ways with Antonio Conte last Sunday.
Cristian Stellini and Ryan Mason will be getting Tottenham through until the summer, but a new man is needed in the Spurs dugout.
Maybe that’s the emphasis here; a new man, with Pochettino allegedly told that he job won’t be his this summer.
That’s according to the Daily Star, who claim that Pochettino has been informed that Spurs are going in a different direction.
It’s claimed that ‘brief talks’ were held and Pochettino was hoping to secure himself a move back to North London.
However, Tottenham have decided they need a completely fresh start and going back to the manager they sacked in 2019 isn’t their idea of a way forward.
Will that stop fans chanting for Pochettino between now and the end of the season? Probably not.
Tottenham can’t afford another slip-up if they’re snubbing Mauricio Pochettino
Pochettino is, rather like The Rock, the people’s champion at Tottenham.
The Argentinian’s exit in 2019 remains a sore spot for many fans who have seen Spurs lurch from bad appointment to bad appointment ever since.
Daniel Levy and co seem to have been trying to prove their status as a big club by going for Jose Mourinho and Antonio Conte – so-called proven winners.
Neither have really fit the DNA of Tottenham though and expected more than Spurs could really offer.
Nuno Espirito Santo was a bizarre choice from the get-go and Pochettino is the only manager in recent times to have really ‘got’ Spurs.
If Tottenham are dodging Pochettino – a man who make Spurs title challengers and took them to the Champions League final – then this appointment has to be bang on the money.
If it’s not, Tottenham fans will be quick to point out that Pochettino was right there for the taking.
