Report: ‘Extraordinary’ Arsenal target knows Chelsea want him, Blues feel he can rival Haaland

Napoli striker and Arsenal target Victor Osimhen is aware that Chelsea are interested in a transfer. The Blues also believe he can rival Erling Haaland in the Premier League.

That is according to the Evening Standard, which reports that Chelsea are confident of the Nigerian succeeding in England. Stamford Bridge chiefs have also made Osimhen a leading target as the west London team strives to sign a physical forward to address a poor record.

Chelsea accept that this season has shown them that they must sign an imposing striker in the summer sales. They also believe Osimhen would deliver the added firepower that they need to compete with Manchester City and Haaland for the 2023/24 Premier League title.

Arsenal target Osimhen knows Chelsea want his transfer from Napoli

Osimhen knows that Chelsea are interested in his transfer from Napoli and has a historical connection with the Blues. The attacker idolised Didier Drogba whilst growing up in Lagos and had a Chelsea jersey. But Manchester United also have an interest in Osimhen’s skills.

Arsenal also admire Osimhen and Ciro Venerato claimed in March 2023 that Mikel Arteta’s team lead Chelsea and Manchester United for a transfer with Napoli. But Azzurri president Aurelio de Laurentiis values Osimhen at €150m (£132m) after his sublime season this term.

Osimhen has continually improved his output since moving to Serie A

Osimhen has scored 21 and assisted five goals in 23 Serie A games, a record Arsenal great Emmanuel Petit calls ‘extraordinary’. The 24-year-old has also scored four goals during five Champions League ties this term. He has only not scored in 10 games in all competitions.

The 23-cap Nigeria international also scored 14 and created five goals in 27 Serie A games last season. He also hit home four in five Europa League ties and laid on one assist against Barcelona. Osimhen has continually improved his output since first joining Napoli in 2020.
