Laporte is keen to leave for first-team football and City are willing to make a summer deal happen.
Laporte still has two years left on his City deal, so any move surely wouldn’t be cheap.
It’s not even a year since Pep Guardiola hailed Laporte as ‘incredible’ as City marched to another Premier League title win.
Yet this season has been incredibly frustrating for the 28-year-old.
Laporte has only started six Premier League games and come off the bench in another one.
Laporte hasn’t played a Premier League game for more than a month now and was an unused substitute against Liverpool on Saturday.
The Spain international seems to be fifth-choice centre back at City now, behind Ruben Dias, John Stones, Manuel Akanji and Nathan Ake.
The time has come for Laporte to move on and try something new, more than five years since his £57million move from Athletic Club.
A proven Premier League defender with titles on his record and a fine left foot, Laporte will surely be of interest to Tottenham.
Whether Laporte is interested in making that move is up for debate though with PSG possibly more suitable in the absence of injured defender Presnel Kimpembe.
