Alasdair Gold has shared his thoughts on the future of Dejan Kulusevski as the on-loan Tottenham Hotspur star is set to return to Juventus.
The feeling amongst the Tottenham fans was that Dejan Kulusevski would sign for them on a permanent basis from Juventus after spending 18 months at the club.
Whilst Gold shared that the ‘expectation within Spurs’ is that he will sign, there are mixed reports coming out of Italy regarding the future of the 23-year-old, as he told his own YouTube channel.
When the Sweden international first arrived at Spurs, he started like a house on fire and instantly became a firm fan favourite.
But his form has dipped off during this campaign, which has coincided with the north London club missing out on European football altogether.
For Football London journalist Gold, he thinks Spurs would be ‘mad’ not to sign Kulusevski for good because he has an ‘amazing amount of potential’.
“Certainly the expectation within Spurs seems to be that he is coming,” said Gold. “But, obviously, with recent reports coming out of Italy, with them thinking he might be going back.
“Unless Spurs are just waiting to see, the director of football and the manager first and say ‘do you definitely want Deki?’
“Personally, I think they would be mad not to. I think it would be an incredibly daft decision not to because, let’s be honest, what formation someone is going to come in and play, then I think he fits in. He is that versatile.
“For me, a player like Deki, at 23, is nowhere near his peak yet. He is an incredible young player with an amazing amount of potential. I hope no one has given up on him after some iffy months.”

When Kulusevski first joined Spurs, things weren’t going all that great for him in Turin, so Juve weren’t that fussed about letting him go.
But that opinion might have now changed given what he has produced in the Premier League and their own current troublesome situation in Serie A.
Despite that, Spurs can’t afford to let the left-footer go because he still has that magic in his game and the already-frustrated fans will get even more annoyed if they don’t take up the option to sign him.
