Ebonyi gov, Francis Nwifuru freezes state accounts, appoints spokesperson

The governor of Ebonyi state, Francis Nwifuru, has issued an order to freeze all state accounts domiciled in various banks.

Nwifuru also appointed Monday Uzor, who served as the spokesperson to the immediate past deputy governor of the state, Kelechi Igwe, as his chief press secretary on Tuesday, May 30.

This development was made known in a statement issued by Uzor on Tuesday morning.

He noted that the governor directed bank managers to ensure that no withdrawal will be made from government accounts until further notice.

The statement reads, “His Excellency, the governor of Ebonyi state, Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, has directed the immediate freezing of all state government accounts domiciled in various banks with effect from, Tuesday, May 30.

“Consequently, the governor directed the bank managers of all the banks that operate government accounts to immediately comply by ensuring that no payment is made from any government accounts till further notice.”
