The group, in a statement, yesterday, said that its interest in intervening in the debate on the leadership of the coming National Assembly (NASS) was because of proper leadership and inclusiveness. In a statement, NDRA National Coordinator, Bright Ngolo, said: “The choice of leadership of the National Assembly should not be left to the ruling elite, but that citizens and indeed the electorate must debate the strengths and weaknesses of the dramatis personae vis-a-vis the performance of the current and past leaderships of the NASS. “We do believe and rightly so that it remains a moral burden for the nation to consider the inclusion of the South-east zone for the leadership matrix of the nation and the formation of the leadership of the 10th National Assembly presents an auspicious opportunity to us all.” He, nonetheless, said that the decision of the leadership of the APC to present the post of Deputy Speaker to the Southeast zone is a good development, as the zone has qualified sons and daughters at the House of Representatives, especially those of the APC extraction. “Since it is only one person that would occupy the position, NDRA is throwing its weight behind Mr. Benjamin Kalu, representing Bende Federal Constituency to become the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, as Kalu has the capacity considering the number of bills to his credit, among other factors including visibility.” 13 mins ago The Niger Delta Rights Advocates (NDRA) has asked the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the in-coming members of the National Assembly, to consider integrity, loyalty and hard work in the choice of the leadership of the 10th National Assembly. 30 mins ago Leaders of the Sheikh Ibraheem El-Zakzaky-led Shi’ites group, otherwise known as Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN), has raised the alarm over alleged plan by Malam Nasir el-Rufai’s administration to demolish 48 structures belonging to the Movement across Kaduna State. 31 mins ago The Presidential Election Petition Court, (PEPC), yesterday, adjourned to May 22, for parties to report back on a consideration for consolidation of the three standing petitions challenging the victory of President-elect Ahmed Bola Tinubu. 38 mins ago The need for the business community to understand Africa’s economic perspectives so as to build lasting connections with consumers in the continent was a major issue pondered at a forum organised by the Market Trends International.. 48 mins ago Enugu State Governor, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, yesterday, inaugurated the 2023/2024 Executive Committee of Enugu Sports Club under the chairmanship of Sir Nnanna Victor Atuonwu, urging the club’s new leadership to continue to expand the frontiers of unity…
