‘He’s been exceptional’: Arteta says £110,00-a-week Arsenal player has risen to the challenge

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has raved about Granit Xhaka after the win against Wolverhampton Wanderers at the Emirates Stadium in North London in the Premier League on Sunday.
Arteta has told Arsenal’s official website that midfielder Granit Xhaka has been exceptional for the Gunners this season.
Arsenal have finished second in the Premier League table this campaign.
The Gunners hammered Wolves 5-0 at home on the final day of the season on Sunday.
Xhaka scored two of the goals for Arsenal.
The 30-year-old made 36 starts and one substitute appearances in the Premier League for the Gunners this season.
The Arsenal no. 34 scored seven goals and gave seven assists in those games.
Arteta said about Xhaka: “He’s had an incredible season. One year back I told him there is a question mark on you, you have to deliver more, you have to be better.
“He went back and trained the next day, then came back in pre-season four kilos lighter, fit and in his face you could see he was determined to do it.
“He’s been exceptional, a key part of the success of the team and I’m so happy that everybody is appreciating what he’s done.”
Granit Xhaka could leave Arsenal despite Mikel Arteta praise
While Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta clearly rates Granit Xhaka, it does not appear that the midfielder will be at the Gunners for much longer.
Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano has reported on Twitter that Bayer Leverkusen are in talks over signing the midfielder.
The deal is reportedly almost done.
It seems that Xhaka has played his final match for Arsenal.
It has not always been easy for the £110,000-a-week (SalarySport) midfielder at Arsenal, but we have to say that he has been really good this season and rose to the challenge.
